Taken from the album "Can't Get Enough" on Amazon Records. Earl featured on bass and vocals in a number of Merseybeat bands back in the early sixties, before branching out as a singer with The Vince Earl Trend and then assembling the original incarnation of The Vince Earl Attraction in 1971, who recorded an LP which is still out there somewhere. After a couple of years as a solo performer, Earl put together the second line up of The Attraction for a summer season tour of Butlins holiday camps around the country in 1973; from Clacton to Bognor and all points in between. An accompanying album was recorded during a single day at the famous independent Amazon studios in Liverpool and around two thousand copies were bought by fans around the country. The Attraction had their moment on New Faces, performing the very Barry White love monster that features on this compilation, but Vince Earl resumed his solo career in 1977, developing a comedy routine to go along with the songs. A chance encounter with Alan Bleasdale whilst appearing in a charity football match sparked a move towards serious acting roles, and Earl featured in a number of important dramas of the day, including Boys from the Black Stuff. In the late 1980s, Earl went for a small part in the Liverpool soap Brookside that won him fame and a 13 year residency as Ron Dixon. Despite the acting success, Earl never stopped singing and The Vince Earl Attraction still performs at corporate events every now and then. |
