Taken from the 1976 SRT album "Hi Everybody" (SRTZ76382). Alas, little is known of the career of Tracy Jones, but keyboard player Terry Herrington recalls that it was one of the many sessions he played on, backing vocalists from the Yorkshire club circuit. At the time, Terry was musical director at the BaBa club in Barnsley and had previously enjoyed a successful stint at the famous Greasbrough Social Club in Rotherham, being the first WMC to book big name acts from America, such as Johnny Ray, Jayne Mansfield and Bobby Vee. Terry spent a number of years rubbing shoulders with the likes of Lulu, Dusty Springfield, Frankie Howerd and Bob Monkhouse. The Tracy Jones album was recorded at Fairview with Keith Herd and arranged by Vic Rawlins, who has now sadly passed away. The LP includes a fistful of rousing numbers where Ms Jones belts it out good and proper and the sleeve is a classic of the age, as Tracy reclines in scanties and Vera Duckworth bubble perm wig for the delight of the men-folk. Sadly, it seems that was the top and tail of it for Tracy. Terry Herrington is still working in the business, chiefly arranging for the bands on cruise liners, and also made an appearance in the recent BBC comedy/drama series Love Soup. |
