Taken from the 1979 Bullseye Music Records and Tapes LP "First Light" (BLP017). Little is known about this Bishop Auckland band apart from the fact that they featured Eric Brazil on vocals and bass, the titular Paul Brown on keyboards and one Nicholas Hankey on drums. The sleeve notes to the original release inform us that they recorded this effort at the County Durham-based independent Bullseye Studios and spotters of Working Man's Soul in the North East will have seen many other Bullseye releases on their travels. No doubt the trio plied their trade up and down the clubs with their smooth Fender Rhodes sound. Generally speaking, the LP is full of crowd-pleasing middle of the road pop slush, but this marvellous take on the Anton Carlos Jobim standard slipped through the quality control net somehow and provides an excellent few minutes for us all to enjoy. |
