Taken from the album of the same name released in 1974 on SRT (SRTM73345). Apart from the fact that it was recorded with Keith Herd at Fairview, not very much at all is known about the album or indeed, this six-piece combo lead by vocalist Russ "Rusty" Harness. What must be their sole LP features a really nice clutch of brassy cover versions, not least this excellent take on the Kool and the Gang funker. Mr Harness even treats us to one of his original compositions too, but as generally good as the rest of the stuff is, picking a track for this compilation was not a difficult exercise. It's a shame that no more is known about Heads Together - check out the feather cuts and satin on the sleeve of the original album - real glam-tastic brickies in lippy, but with a really beefy brass funk thing going on. |
